Pythagorean (Western) maps A–I to 1–9, then repeats from J. That’s what most modern name calculators use for destiny (expression), soul urge, personality, and karmic lessons. Life path still comes from the birth date, not letters.

Numerology4U defaults to Pythagorean for name numbers. Advanced mode can switch those to Chaldean. Birth-date numbers don’t change when you flip the letter system.

Chaldean numerology

The modern Chaldean chart assigns letters to 1–8 by traditional sound groups. 9 is usually treated as sacred and not given to a letter. Many Chaldean readers look at compound totals before reducing, and may use a commonly used name rather than the birth name.

Because the charts differ, the same name can produce a different destiny or soul urge. Read each result in the system that produced it.

Which should you use?

Pick one system and stay in it when you compare people. Our calculator defaults to Pythagorean. Advanced mode only changes supported name numbers — it is not a full traditional Chaldean reading.
